Summary of Comments and Todos

The italics are my thoughts.

Writing

  • Overview of the Interface

    • a higher-level guideline of interactions is absent

      • make a roadmap of actions combining tasks

  • Related Work

    • "no clear novelty factor present"

      • survey the real need of users for network analysis

      • one-sentence claim that the stacking view does not appear in the literature

    • Bring up the multi-resolution visualization techniques for time series

  • Validation

    • Case Study: "brief"

      • explain more on the case dataset

    • User Test: missing

      • user study?

  • Discussion, Future Work

    • Discussion section is lacking

      • what more is expected from the analysts? i.e. what need is not addressed? why is it difficult to meet?

      • which part of the visual interpretation/interaction is hard for them?

      • maybe include the discussion of the extension to other interval-based systems as mentioned by reviewer 4 https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3132847.3133164

    • Future work is "short and superficial"

User Study

  • Run a quantitative & qualitative study by asking volunteers to conduct basic operations with a timer & rate the helpfulness of the system?

    • baseline: small multiples and animated node-link diagrams only for different granularities - find the outlier period as soon as possible.

      • components, density, ...

  • Compare findings in the highschool dataset with other works, give detailed comments of the analysts

  • How did the experts or analysts say about the usability and effectiveness.

Figure

  • enlarge Fig. 4, 5, 6 and improve the resolution

  • increase the font size in Fig 2

  • try to make the figures less sketchy with a uniform style

Online Version

  • modularize the source code and make a site for the project, including introduction
